The racist backlash on Twitter sickens me, of course. Not surprising this trend has come about. Many Indian American families have gotten very involved in spelling competitions. And do any of the redneck "American" critics of this trend encourage their kids or peers to participate in spelling bees? Somehow I doubt it.
