Privacy, Trust and Voice

Rafranz and also Melinda Anderson helped me see this in a different light via Twitter conversations yesterday. I had shared the original post myself. I am a good person, and yet as a straight, white person who lives well above the poverty line, I also must be reminded to check my privilege and see that it's easier than ever to betray the trust placed in us by families if we are not careful. What makes me saddest is the people who attacked Rafranz via social media for speaking out what she felt she needed to (and what I am grateful she did speak out about). There is no excuse for that kind of behavior.
