Debunking a Myth: The Irish Were Not Slaves, Too

It’s time to stop spreading the myth — actually the LIE — that the Irish were enslaved in North America. I’m a quarter Irish, with a Belfast-born grandparent. There’s plenty of other suffering in the history of Ireland without having to claim something that is both untrue and downright insulting to the millions of people of African ancestry whose people truly WERE enslaved and brutalized in ways that still impact their descendants today.
