As someone who has cowered under my desk, practicing with much older children, I can attest that these drills force you to imagine the worst. This can't be healthy for this generation of kids. When I was a kid, we lived in fear of mutually-assured nuclear destruction of the planet. How is it that as a planet we overcame life on THAT brink, but we can't put an end to school shooting sprees?
