There Is No Teacher Shortage
“There is no teacher shortage. There's a shortage of willingness to invest the profession with respect and support. There's a shortage of willingness to make the jobs appealing enough to attract and retain all the people schools want to attract and retain. There's a shortage of will to make the job appealing enough to hold onto the people who start out. There's a shortage, not just of money, but of respect and support and empowerment.”

Power of Positivity
My son spent only eight days in the NICU, but those were the longest eight days of my life. Everything inside me needed him to come home with us, but he couldn’t. I know how much parents of babies in the NICU need to know their children are being loved when they can’t be there to do it themselves.

Ms., Mr., or Mx.? Nonbinary teachers embrace gender-neutral honorific
This is fascinating, helpful, and affirming. I’m also going to share it with our school’s GSA.

Simply Having a Gay Straight Alliance Reduces Suicide Risk for All Students
GSA now stands for Gender Sexuality Alliance in many schools (including mine), and I’m here to attest to the fact that it changes and saves lives. And not just for the LGBTQ+ kids.

This teen’s performance in the passenger seat of his mom’s car is worthy of Broadway
I wish I could teach this kid. He seems like a hoot. Mom? Unfazed.

Losing A Parent Feels Like Hell, So Don't Tell Me To 'Get Over It'
4.5 and nearly 11 years later, and the holes in my heart are still there. I hope I’ve become a better person to those who are grieving around me.

It’s OK That I Don’t Drink. It’s Not OK That You Ask Why.
I do drink, but I care about quite a few people who do not, for various reasons. People need to mind their own business and quit sober-shaming.

I'm So Happy To Be A Mom, But Now I Can't Stop Thinking About Death
I can relate. From Cameron’s first eight days, spent in the NICU, to his independent teen years now, the flavor of worry evolves, but it’s always still the same fear: some day I will not be here with him. I’m learning now how to step back and let him grow into the adult he needs to be. And the autism just adds another layer of apprehension to my parenting. But I am starting to see that he will, someday, be fine without me.
